On the 10th of January my daughter and I will depart for an adventure up to Nhulunbuy located on the Gove Peninsula, Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, Australia. I have 6 months to show her how and where I grew up. Whilst times have changed in the 20 years that I have not really lived there there it still has an essence of isolation and a magnificent beauty. The memories I have I want to share with her. It will be difficult to leave dad/husband behind but the opportunities this trip holds are something just not to be missed.
My daughter is so excited about the prospect of going that there is little thought right now of missing dad, missing the pet rabbit, not having the comforts of her things, living in heat, having no car let alone the challenges of a new school and new friends. The excitement to work in Opa's shop, see where mum went to school, eat hot salami sandwich's for school lunches is just all too much for her to have to wait for.
So I here I wish to for us to keep a little blog of some of the times we have together up North.
